We are a fast-growing manufacturer of Concrete interlocking Paver and Tiles in Arusha. Started Kreativeblocks concrete designer tiles and interlocking paving blocks manufacturing out of curiosity in 2020 just before the global announcement of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Fortunately, Tanzania was an outlier compared to the rest of the world where the government’s position on the COVID-19 pandemic was different. The government didn’t implement a lockdown because that would have restricted public access to health services, especially for patients with chronic conditions like tuberculosis and HIV infection, which, in settings like Tanzania with large burdens of infectious and non-infectious diseases, would have had severe effects. Lockdown might have also prevented citizens from working, affecting households' ability to afford food or health care, and pushing more people into poverty.

Even though this was the government position lots of companies shut down its operation and layed off most of their workers and it was at this time when Kreativeblocks was realized as a social enterprise offering short-term contracts to whoever needed a job be it going out to look for a market, cleaning the molds, mixing the concrete, curing, demold the concrete tiles and pavers, etc., it was a social enterprise because it was offering a place for people to eat, put their mind at ease while evaluating next steps in their lives.

Some of our short-term employees have managed to generate the money for their higher learning education, some paid the schools fees for their kids, and some manage to get the bus fare to return home where life could have been easy, and some have stayed and made living out of the daily wage that they are earning at Kreativeblocks.
